Energy & Natural Resources

A sector facing the most scrutiny and dramatic transition seen anywhere since industrialisation, the energy sector is facing a range of environmental, economic, political and societal challenges which include:

  • recovering more conventional energy from existing reserves;
  • sourcing new, accessible reserves of conventional energy;
  • sourcing sustainable and credible clean energy options;
  • fragmented regulation;
  • taxation and price pressure;
  • geo-politics;
  • societal expectations; and
  • attracting new science graduates recruits into the industry.

AAB has a team of people which not only fully grasps the complexities of the energy and natural resources sectors - they’ve actually come from those industries; working for the giants such as BHP Billiton and Shell where they have been responsible for public affairs, corporate responsibility (CSR), corporate communications and marketing.

Our team has first hand experience of the political and societal challenges the sector faces; have ensured that the oil majors and mining houses are heard and understood amid much NGO noise; have worked in real incident and emergency management teams; created identities, websites and other corporate material; and planned and executed stands at some of the world’s premier industry exhibitions and conferences.

Our specialists have worked with large, medium and small-sized players in the petroleum, nuclear and mining industries. We also understand the renewables sector, having advised wind, hydro and fuel crop businesses and recently announced a major capital-raising initiative for the construction of a concentrated solar power facility in Jordan . We’ve worked in developed markets across Europe, North America and the Middle East, as well as in less developed markets in Africa.

Our experience includes working for:

  • BP
  • BHP Billiton
  • Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation
  • Hillwood Energy
  • Mubadala Development Corporation
  • Shell
